Local and State

Proposition CC

Recently, the Colorado Central Committee has
overwhelmingly voted to endorse Proposition CC.

Proposition CC would allow the state to retain revenue it is currently required to refund under TABOR. This means that needed revenue can, with no tax rate hikes, be applied to fund public schools, higher education, and roads and bridges. State revenue would increase $310M in FY 2020 & $342M in FY 2021. The money would be divided equally among the three areas of K-12 Public Schools, Higher Education, and Roads and Bridges.

The text of Proposition CC:
Without raising taxes and to better fund public schools, higher education, and roads, bridges, and transit, within a balanced budget, may the state keep and spend all the revenue it annually collects after June 30, 2019, but is not currently allowed to keep and spend under Colorado law, with an annual independent audit to show how the retained revenues are spent?
